Salzburg Open-Air Museum

Salzburg’s Biggest Museum

Salzburg Open-Air Museum in Grossgmain, 15 km south-west of downtown Salzburg City, impressively presents rural life, work and buildings in Salzburg province from the 16th to the 20th century.  The museum consists of over 60 farmhouses, homes, blacksmiths, saw mills, mills, barns and much more.  On Sundays and national holidays, craftsmen and artists from across Salzburg, Upper Austria and Bavaria demonstrate their skills outside these re-erected buildings.  And whenever you get hungry, the Salettle, the museum’s own historic inn, is certain to have just what you are looking for.  Children can run and play to their hearts’ content on the adventure playground right next-door.
