The Legendary Untersberg

According to legend, dwarves and goblins stand guard over unimaginable treasures in the center of the Untersberg.  The books of fairytales also tell us that its forests are home to giants and mystical women of supernatural beauty.  Yet another legend chose to locate itself on the Untersberg:

The “Wild Hunt”, a parade of mysterious spirits, whose appearance is said to cause storms and high winds.  The most famous of all the legends relates to Charlemagne who, according to lore, still sleeps within the mountain.  As long as the ravens circle over its summit, all is well.  But should those birds ever disappear, this is a sign that the emperor has reawakened.
